DONALD FAVOURITE IN RETURN

Having lost out on his top spot to youngster Rory McIlroy after he won the Honda Classic a couple of weeks back, former world number one golfer Luke Donald is back again on Tour, aiming to take back the title that he lost when he threw away his match in the World Golf Championship: Accenture Match Play Championship, inadvertently costing him the number one crown.  With McIlroy and another contender to the number one title Lee Westwood taking the week off, experts view Donald’s decision at playing on this week as wise as it gives him the opportunity to cut the lead that McIlroy has at the top.

Moreover, after finishing extremely poorly in the World Golf Championship: Cadillac Championship this week, Luke Donald will be aiming to set things into motion ahead of the next Major tournament by getting his stroke play on the right track, which was one of the main reasons for him losing out in the earlier rounds of the tournament.

He will be a part of the Transitions Championships, one of the most prestigious tournaments on the PGA Tour where he will have to compete with the likes of Webb Simpson, Peter Hanson, Jim Furyk and Justin Rose, but according to the bookies, Donald is their favorite to win the tournament and get his rankings in order once again.

However, that is not easy as it sounds with almost all the players playing in the tournament to mark gather some much needed ranking points and this might prove to be detrimental for Luke Donald, who does not have much experience of playing there before. But on the other hand, having been a world number one, he should be ready to take everything in his stride if he wants to reclaim his number one crown sooner than later.
