Luke Donald sticks with Mizuno

Luke Donald didn’t declare his deal extension with his sponsor Mizuno by shooting a funny ad with fellow Mizuno golfer Charles Howell III or at an international press conference. Instead, Luke did it via a small telephone from Florida as he was preparing for the PGA Tour’s thirteenth season.

Speaking of his deal extension, Donald said that he would prefer to stick with what he knows. Luke has been with Mizuno for ten years and he has not been one of the tinker. TO Luke, Mizuno has a kind of family atmosphere. Continue reading “Luke Donald sticks with Mizuno”

Luke Donald goes for hatrick

Luke Donald, the world number two golfer, has his sight to secure a place alongside golfer Colin Montgomerie when he will compete in the BMW PGA Championship in May and more importantly, he would like to win it for a 3rd consecutive year.

Apart from Sir Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie, the thirty five year old English golfer is the only player to have successfully defended his title in the history of golfers’ flagship tournament when he snatched the title in a brilliant way in this year.

Now Luke is targeting to hit a magnificent treble from 23rd May to 26th May at the Wentworth Club. This feat was earlier achieved by 8 – time European No. 1 Colin Montgomerie, who won this event three times – in 1998, 1999 and 2000.

In 2011, Luke edged out his fellow countryman golfer Lee Westwood in a play – off. Last year, he successfully defended his title; snatching a 4 – stroke win that again returned him to peak of the list of world golf ranking.

In 2011, Luke Donald topped the money list in the US PGA Tour. He told that the European Tour’s flagship tournament BMW PGA Championship and to win it back to back is really special for him. It would be a huge achievement for him to go there and attempt to do what Colin Montgomerie did. This is a huge tournament on the European Tour schedule; and West Course suits his game quite well.

Matt Dearden meets Luke Donald on golf range

Matt Dearden from Cardiff is looking for some Turkish delight as well as a dream ticket to play with world class golfers like Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood at the Wentworth’s cash laden PGA Championship next year.

Thirty three year old Matt Dearden is all set to represent West Region in Titleist PGA play-offs at Antalya’s Sultan course from 10th December to 13th December and to be with an opportunity of making Wentworth as well as the European Tour’s blue riband championship, the Cardiff player has told that to be the winner at the West Region has led to a local problem back in his home in the southern part of Wales.

Matt Dearden told that long time back, he booked a family holiday to Fuerteventura, but now those dates are clashing with the play off dates. Now to avoid disappointing his daughter and wife, he would spend the spare time with them before Atalaya’s Sultan course.

This summer, Matt Dearden has centered all his concentration on West Region rather than attempting to go to a satellite tour in Europe. He may be rewarded with an invitation to Celtic Manor’s ISPS Handa Wales Open that will take place August 2013.

Matt told that it is the dream of each golfer to play at Wentworth and there were ten spots available this year. He added that he might have a good chance to go there. For him, it would be really great to play in Celtic Manor’s Wales Open as well.

Donald to skip this year’s PGA Tour

Despite satisfactory performances at Lake Buena Vista that has gifted him with the money title by beating Webb Simpson, Luke Donald, the world number-2 English ace golfer, has decided not to take part in the final event of PGA Tour’s Fall Series. The reason for this is a bit serious. He has to take one of his children for a scheduled medical check-up. He is going to donate a huge amount at the Lurie Children’s Hospital, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in his hometown Chicago as a compensatory approach of his absence in the classic tournament. However he cannot go on to defend his title at this Children’s miracle Hospitals Classic. This tournament is quite significant for Luke Donald in his career because this tournament only helped him to get recognition in the world of golf and the European Tour Order of Merit and PGA Tour money.

He generally is professional to the core and most of the time misses his contribution of time to his family but this time it has almost cropped up as an emergency for him and hence he is forced to skip some of the races for the titles. Without his presence, there will be six other winners from the current season and former champions too who would take part in the event.

Recently, after the presidential elections Luke Donald, by birth from Chicago, even tried his hand in lightening up the golfers who were depressed over the poll results with his Twitter post that said, “Wow this is getting close; I just don’t know which way the decision will go….. Will they, or will they not ban the long putter!!” the post was a digression from the usual discussion of presidential results about which many of the golfer mates were depressed.

Luke Donald looks Promising

The Englishman Luke Donald goes off to a flier at the opening round of the Deutsche Bank Championship. He scored a 4-under par 67 and was held in the 10th place.

The current world number 2 hit six birdies at the opening round at TPC Boston in Norton. But there were two bogies that he couldn’t avoid. The topper of that round, Seung-Yul Noh, who scored 9-under par 62 without a bogey, is five strokes ahead of Donald.

Donald started early in the morning and he felt that he was fortunate to have a better weather condition. He anticipated a breezy weather in the afternoon which wouldn’t be a comfortable one for him. When asked about the condition Luke Donald told that the breeze was starting to blow a bit and it was safe for him that he played earlier in the morning. But according to him the pitch was wonderful. He loves to play in TPC Boston because he has a feeling of comfort here, as he argued.

Though Donald has made a really good start but it could have been a better one if he could skip the bogeys in the 8th and 17th hole. He himself said that he was not sure how that happened. Apart from that Luke Donald is having a wonderful time. He thrice finished in top-10 in the last four events that he participated. He also came victorious at the Transitions Championship 2012 where he defeated Jim Furyk and Robert Garrgus at the playoffs.

The Englishman, who lost his number one spot to Rory Mcllory at the PGA Championship, 2012, tried to get it back in the Barclays 2012 but only managed to hold the 10th spot. On this week the world number one spot can again be shifted to Luke Donald because of his double win at the PGA Tour 2012.
